Overview:
Cyber Defense Technologies (CDT), a leading small business cybersecurity and engineering firm, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Red Team Operator to join our cybersecurity team. In this role, you will simulate advanced threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to assess and enhance the security posture of our commercial clients. You’ll be working with a diverse range of organizations, performing full-scope red team operations, adversary emulations, and advanced penetration tests. This position requires up to 50% travel, with engagements taking place both remotely and on-site at client locations. Responsibilities:
Plan and execute red team engagements emulating realistic adversarial campaigns.
Perform covert testing across physical, social engineering, and cyber domains to identify weaknesses.
Emulate TTPs aligned with real-world APT profiles, leveraging frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK and custom adversary toolsets.
Collaborate with blue teams to improve detection and response capabilities through purple teaming.
Develop detailed reports and deliver technical and executive-level presentations to clients.
Maintain awareness of emerging threats, tools, and adversarial techniques.
Build custom tools and modify existing frameworks to support unique engagement requirements.
Ensure engagements align with customer goals, compliance requirements, and ethical boundaries.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Security, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related Engineering discipline and typically 5+ years of relevant experience
Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
Solid understanding of TTPs used by APT groups and criminal threat actors (MITRE ATT&CK).
Hands-on experience with tools such as Cobalt Strike, Metasploit, Empire, or similar C2 frameworks.
Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux internals, Active Directory attacks, and network protocols.
Ability to script in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%.
