Overview: CDT is seeking a highly organized and technically skilled System Administrator/ Lab Managerto provide hands-on, on-site support for our development and testing environments. This role is essential to maintaining the day-to-day operations of our technical labs and infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, security, and performance. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy solving hardware and software challenges collaboratively with cross-functional teams. This position will be onsite in Chantilly, VA.
Clearance Requirements: An active TS/SCI with Full Scope poly is required. Candidates who do not meet these clearance requirements will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain physical and virtual lab infrastructure (servers, desktops, networking equipment, etc.)
Coordinating/Scheduling of lab resources
Helping programs with initial lab setup
Keeping lab documentation up-do-date, e.g., system diagrams, rack-elevation, etc.
Maintain configuration setup of test equipment
Ensure adequate use of the space
Provide on-site technical support, including setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair of lab systems
Support software installation, patch management, and configuration across lab environments
Monitor system performance and proactively identify and address issues
Maintain hardware inventory, manage procurement of lab equipment, and coordinate hardware RMA processes
Ensure lab environment adheres to security, compliance, and operational standards
Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to support development and testing efforts
Develop and maintain lab documentation, including network diagrams, asset tracking, and procedures
Assist with the implementation of backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies for lab systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3 - 5+ years of experience in system administration or lab management roles
Strong understanding of networking principles with experience setting up and troubleshooting client network connectivity
Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
Hands-on experience with hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance
Familiarity with networking concepts (switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, etc.)
Comfortable using remote management tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)
Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) is a plus
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Linux+, or Microsoft/VMware credentials
