Functional Tester I

Overview: Cyber Defense Technologies (CDT) is seeking a skilled and motivated Functional Tester to join our team in Dayton, Ohio. The ideal candidate will work closely with functional and development teams to ensure applications meet customer expectations and integrate with program IT landscape.

Clearance Requirements: An active Secret clearance is required. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be considered.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for comprehensive testing of software applications, through test plan creations, test case (manual and/or automated) development and test case execution.
  • Identify, document and track software defects and inconsistencies found as part of the software application testing.
  • Provide testing progress status (via test execution results)
  • Collaborate with project teams to understand system design and operational objectives.
  • Develop and execute test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures to ensure robust testing of all features and functionalities.
  • Perform manual and automated tests, analyze results, and report any defects or issues to the development team.
  • Work closely with developers to replicate issues and verify fixes.
  • Ensure that all testing processes integrate seamlessly with the existing IT landscape and adhere to industry standards and security protocols.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve product quality and reduce future defects.
  • Assist in the creation of documentation for end users and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of industry trends, tools, and practices in testing.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in functional testing, preferably within a government or defense environment.
  • An understanding of software testing techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience with manual and automated testing tools.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of Agile development methodology and Scrum
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
